Hydrotherapy

Swimming is not just fun for dogs, it also does great things for them, this is why we offer private and supervised hydrotherapy sessions for our for legged clients.

The resistance of water makes dogs work harder to swim than they have to work on land to walk or run. With hydrotherapy dogs show improved muscular strength and tone, while working their cardio-vascular and respiratory system, without the impact of concussive exercise on land and the associated damage that it may cause.

Stronger, toned muscles help to protect dogs against injuries sustained during normal exercise, such as running or chasing a ball, or during more demanding exercise such as agility and flyball.

In healthy dogs, swimming should be used in conjunction with other exercise on land to ensure the dog’s bones are kept strong by sustaining good bone density. Swimming is recommended as an ideal form of therapeutic exercise for dogs. Research indicates that swimming can help dogs significantly decrease recovery time from injuries and decreases pain.

Hydrotherapy is widely used in the rehabilitation of various dog issues such as: arthritis, hip and elbow dysplasia, cruciate ligament tears, orthopedic surgery, stroke, paralysis, muscle degeneration and pre/post surgical condition.

Our staff at Animal House will start your dogs hydriotherapy swim session gently and increase the exercise over time.

Whether your dog is healthy and you just want him or her to have fun while exercising or your dog has a physical health issue where swimming will help him improve range of motion, mobility, over-all body condition and lift his spirits, a swim in the pool at Animal House is always a great idea!
